How to Verify Your Paypal Philippines Account with a Debit or Credit Card

When shopping online, it’s important to know how to verify your Paypal Philippines account. Verifying your Paypal account will lift your initial account limits (an unverified account is only allowed a limited amount of money to be sent/received). It also gives an online merchant confidence in shipping their product all the way to the Philippines.

Paypal is a popular payment platform accepted by many international websites. eBay is the number one store that accepts Paypal simply because it is owned by the same company. Most other online shops are listed in Paypal’s site directory.

Before you start shopping online, here are the steps on how to verify your Paypal Philippines account:

DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD

1. Go to your my account page and click on the “Get verified” link. This is just below the words “Welcome, yourname”.

2. Enter your debit or credit card information. You can pretty much use any ATM card or any type of credit card with a VISA or Mastercard logo as long as it’s not yet registered on any other existing Paypal account. American Express is also accepted.

*If you’ve already entered your credit card information the first time you signed up, then select the card on the list and go on to the next step.

3. After entering your information, wait for your card to be charged P100.00 (Philippine Pesos). Make sure you have at least P200.00 funds available in your card for this. This process may take 2-3 days.

4. Check your card’s statement for a unique 4-digit Paypal EXPUSE (Expanded Use) code. You can wait for your paper statement to get the code get it directly from your bank. Try calling your bank’s customer service hotline or check online if your credit card or debit card has an online statement access.

5. Log-in to our Paypal account and enter the 4-digit Paypal code. Paypal Philippines will refund the the P100 test charge within 24 hours after confirmation (your bank may process that for up to 4 days).

Unionbank’s EON Visa debit card seems to be the popular choice for verifying an account because of its affiliation with Paypal Philippines. Majority of the benefit though is for the sellers. If you are not planning to receive money via Paypal on a regular basis then just stick with your existing cards. Unionbank charges P350 annually for maintaining an EON Visa debit card.
